Galapagos Islands

Galapagos Islands Cruises… a unique archipelago… a unique experience. It is a dramatic yet beautiful world of volcanic landscapes and fearless animals: Giant tortoises, fur seals, sea lions, marine iguanas, frigate birds, blue-footed boobies and much more. A Galapagos Islands cruise & tour including a visit to the Galapagos National Park and world heritage site will be an unforgettable, and unparalleled experience.

Located in the Pacific Ocean, roughly 1000km off the coast of Ecuador, straddling the equator. The isolation of these islands has permitted life forms to evolve into species found only in Galapagos. Famously observed by Charles Darwin, his research contributed to the fame of the islands.

The Galapagos archipelago encompasses over 50 islands of volcanic origin that are spread out over an area of about 4500 sq. km. This is why liveaboard Galapagos cruises are the best way to see Galapagos. The oldest of these is not more than 2.4 million years old, a baby in geological terms. The islands are among the most volcanically active group of islands in the world.

The Galapagos gained fame with the publication of Darwin’s Voyage Of The Beagle and Origin Of Species, but also with various scientific expeditions, notably, The California Academy of Sciences in 1906.

The Galapagos National Park was established in 1959 to protect the unique and therefore precious flora and fauna of the islands. In that same year the Charles Darwin Research Station was founded in Academy Bay on Isla Santa Cruz. Both of these help to create the well managed and protected national park we have today. Other Galapagos Yachts

Traveling aboard a yacht ensures the visitor receives the most intimate Galapagos cruise experience. Truly ‘up close and personal’ with nature and the rugged beauty of the islands: Leaning over the bow watching the dolphins riding the bow wave inches away; spotting that whale in the distance; anchoring in a quiet and secluded cove; strolling the beach amongst the sea lions and watching the boobies dive into the surf; it truly is a unique opportunity.

Enchanted Expeditions offers the opportunity to see the Galapagos Islands aboard our comfortable, exclusive, (16 passengers max.) motor yachts, including the Beluga and Cachalote Explorer amongst others. These small exclusive group sizes ensures that our passengers are able to gain access to all the best visitor sites, some of which are closed to the bigger cruise ships. For this Galapagos yacht tour each boat has a full crew, including a fully trained and licensed multi-lingual naturalist guide.

Whilst visitors do not need any sailing experience, persons should be prepared for life onboard. This will maximize the exhilarating experience of our Galapagos boat tours.

For those who love to dive, underwater Galapagos can be as exciting and interesting as Galapagos ashore. The combination of ocean fish, birds, mammals and reptiles sets Galapagos apart from other marine environments. Snorkelers and divers share the water with penguins, sea lions, marine iguanas, sea turtles, angel fish, large schools of Amberjacks and many other species of fish. We offer diving tours that can be added as an extension to a cruise or offered as part of an island hopping land tour.

An alternative to liveaboard cruises is the island hopping where you would stay on land at one or all of the local villages for a short or longer period of time, exploring visitor sites in and around the villages, or going on day tours to nearby islands. Offering you a range of customized tours – not only will you get to experience part of the national park but also be part of island life in the Galapagos.

To compliment not only the cruises but also the island hopping and diving we offer you the Altair Lodge with ten renovated rooms in the highlands of Santa Cruz just a quarter of an hour from Puerto Ayora a place relax and unwind.

Land Based Tours

We recommend our guests to extend their Galapagos experience by staying on at one of the local villages in the archipelago, before or after their cruise. Or for those who prefer to only sleep on land, we are also offer multi-day Galapagos-hopping land packages. These tours allow guests to stay in the local villages while exploring visitor sites in and around the villages, or going on day tours to nearby islands. During this time guests will have the opportunity to interact with wildlife and visit pristine areas while also experiencing a bit of the local culture. We can also customize these trips to suit individual preferences and needs.
