Napo Wildlife Centre

Another option for a stunning jungle experience is the Napo Wildlife Centre. Upon your arrival in Coca, a comfortable 2 hour motorized canoe ride down the Napo River takes you to the “bocana”. The access from there to the lodge is via a 2.5 km guided walk or a 1.5 hour paddle along a creek by dugout canoe. Whichever option you decide, the views of the lodge on arrival are outstanding. This eco friendly lodge is situated on Anangucocha Lake which lies inside the 1 million hectares Yasuni National Park.

The ten cabins are in keeping with traditional native design and each includes king-size or twin beds, private bathroom with hot water on demand, 24 hour electricity generated by hybrid power system, ceiling fan, screened windows and mosquito nets. They also boast a private porch providing lake and forest views.

A wealth of daily activities are provided for you to choose from; hikes, bird watching, nocturnal excursions on trails and lake night exploration for cayman (alligator) watching, visit the local community of Añangu who works in partnership with the lodge, and a visit to the unique parrot clay licks. Here, parrots, macaws and a variety of parakeets gather in abundance.

Accompanied by a native park ranger and bilingual naturalist guide you will learn about medicinal plants, tropical forest biology and will be made constantly aware of wildlife movement. The guides’ expertise and enthusiasm will make for an educative, fun experience!
